Review of the Land Registration Rules 2003

This consultation seeks views on suggested amendments to the Land Registration Rules 2003 (the rules). The proposals contained in the consultation document are the outcome of a review of the implementation of the Land Registration Act 2002 (The Act) and the rules.

The purpose of the review was to make recommendations as to possible amendments to the rules so as to:

  • implement the original intention behind a provision, where this may not have been achieved or is open to an alternative interpretation.
  • cover matters that, with the benefit of experience, can now be included.
  • improve practice for the benefit of Land Registry’s internal and external customers.
  • reduce the administrative burden.

This consultation is aimed primarily at conveyancers and other legal practioners but may be of interest to others involved in the administration of property ownership.

This consultation has now closed and the Land Registry's formal response is available at http://www1.landregistry.gov.uk/legislation/actsrules/amendsi/
